Broadsword

The Broadsword was the first complete mecha, and the first combat model. it was developed and feilded durring the thrid world war. while it's debut battle was a dramatic sucess, the mecha saw no combat for the next year as battle field comanders couldn't find a use for the odd machines.
it wasn't untill one was sent to reinforce allied lines during a rather intense battle that the weapon came into it's own. it's arrival on the battle field combined with the anti tank cannon it carried turned the tide of the battle- not through it's own capabilities but rather because of the shock effect it had on enemy troops. from that point on the broad sword was largely used for boosting troop moral durring battle, it's combat capabilities was but a pleasent side effect.

The broad sword was encased in a multi layer sheath of a kevlar-like fabic with the heavy armor plating attaching over that. Due to the largely enclosed nature of the machinery, the broadsword it could operate in numberous locals without many modifications to adapt it to the different environs.
